So you might be sick of hearing about my summer plans, but I’m just so excited that I have to bring them up
one more time a few more times! In less than two weeks I’ll be putting on my big girl pants and boarding a plane to Texas. I’ve never flown alone before and I couldn’t be more terrified, but I’m also super excited!
I’m heading to Houston to see my best friend of 8 years who moved 1,045 miles away for college. We haven’t gone over the details of my trip quite yet but I am hoping that I can convince her to buckle down for an hour car ride so I can see the gulf!
Luckily for me, I don’t think she’ll be too hard to convince so I’ve already started to prepare for my big beach debut!
What’s in my Beach Bag?
I love the sunshine – but hate how it makes me burn! Despite my dark hair, I’m naturally quite pale and the sun and I don’t always get along. My summers are normally spent tending to my burns despite being diligent abut sunscreen. Nonetheless I go in with the same blind optimism every summer, hoping that SPF 50 will be enough.
But for real, does anyone have a great sunscreen recommendation – I need it!
I like to tend to my skin with a one-two punch of sunscreen before and during sun exposure, and moisturizing directly afterward. Recently I tried the St. Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion and I am crazy about it. The Coconut Milk & Orchid Extract scent is honestly what I hope heaven smells like. This is a great lotion to just throw in my bag because it goes on as a spray making application super quick and easy, plus it absorbs in seconds!
This is probably another given – but I am a wimp when it comes to the sun in my eyes! In all honesty, I’ll probably end up bringing two pairs in case something happens to one of them.
Snacks & Water.
Chances are there will be a snack bar at beach, but I am also pretty frugal. I don’t want to spend money where I don’t have to, and I’m sure that I’ll be much better off bringing my own snacks and water. Because I’ll be out in the hot sun I’m going to opt for a healthier snack to keep my energy levels up!
Two towels & a coverup.
I like to have two towels – one to lay on, and one to dry off with! In a perfect world I’d also bring a beach umbrella, too! But for now I’m sticking with my towels! I also like to throw in a cover up in case I need to run to the bathroom or something but don’t want to put my clothes on.
A change of clothes.
After spending all day in the ocean water and sand, fresh clothes are quite refreshing! Like I said, Jennifer lives an hour from the beach, so I don’t want to sit in a soggy swimsuit during the drive home!
What do you bring?
I’ve been to a fair share of beaches in my day, but it’s been a while! For all of you pro beach-goers, what am I missing? Let me know in the comments!
