So the plan for today was to launch a super exciting and fun giveaway, but unfortunately there are a few kinks I need to work out (don’t worry, it’ll be up tomorrow!) so with no backup plan I had to think on my feet. I have been feeling super nostalgic lately – looking back and remembering the good ‘ol days when the biggest of my worries involved worrying about Hannah Montana’s secret identity being leaked.
My nostalgia lead me to watching my graduation video, which lead to more nostalgia and now here we are. Because it’s “throwback thursday” I thought it’d be fun to let you guys get to know me a little bit better with a quick glimpse of my life in pictures.
To be honest, I don’t remember this point in my life. But from what I am told I was an absolute delight.
So this happened. In the fourth grade (10 years already!?! I still feel 11!) I was thrilled to be cast as a hippie in the school musical. And I remember feeling so superior to all of the other hippies because I had face paint and they didn’t. How could they be authentic without face paint?
Check out that crimped hair, though.
And then I hit my awkward phase: middle school. Here I am at 12 years old with fresh braces and a terrible haircut. The wounds are still too fresh – this makes me cringe still!
. Another fun fact: This was my ‘headshot’ for the school play.
“Wow, what role did you play?”
Uh, I was the curtain girl. And the best curtain girl that Wilson Middle School ever saw. Plus, I got to shoot the starter pistol for a sound effect which was much better than being on stage. (I am still bitter about not being cast for an actual role. I had star potential.)
Freshman year: braces off, sidebangs grown out (though I can’t say I didn’t make that mistake again in the future.) Here I am at a cross country meet with the then team captain, who was a huge influence in my life. Throughout high school, cross country was one of the most important parts of my life. The friends I made, the confidence I gained, and the experiences I had are something I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Here is my favorite picture from senior year cross country – this was before a race that I had a huge PR in. This was a varsity only race on the day of homecoming – and we were three hours away. The faster we ran the faster we got home to get ready.
This picture was taken this summer with a few of my best friends. The girl next to me is my roommate, the boy on the far right is my boyfriend. The other two are really great friends that unfortunately aren’t here at University of Illinois with me! Going to college really helps you see how important your friends are, not seeing some of them everyday is the worst! (Hi Tiffany, I miss you!)
And finally we’ve reached the present -or a few weeks ago, that is. You may recognize this picture from my college fashion week post. This was one of the coolest weekends I’ve ever had. I took the train to Chicago alone to be in the show, and I got to navigate the city on my own. Nothing makes you feel adult like pretending you know where you’re going in a city as amazing as Chicago!
Do you guys have any fun throwback thursday memories?
