Meet my Phenomenal Best Friend!

This post is brought to you by She Knows and Lean Cuisine.
I’m one of the lucky ones – growing up there was certainly no shortage of amazing women in my life. From family, to teachers, to friends I was really blessed in that I had so many wonderful role models guiding me and helping form me into the person that I am today. Now that I’m older I’m in this amazing place where my peers are doing incredible things and I have a whole new group of women to look up to. As I mentioned in my last post, I am one of Lean Cuisine’s Phenomenal Ambassadors and sharing great stories of accomplishments and great food all summer long, and in my last post, I helped share the brand’s message that reinforces that the most important thing we should weigh is our accomplishments when I told you about my accomplishment with Swimable. Lean Cuisine’s Feed Your PhenomenalTM campaign is celebrating incredible women and creating a web of fantastic ladies. The idea of this campaign is incredible, and I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it! Lean Cuisine wants to help recognize the phenomenal women in your life.

In seventh grade I didn’t have many friends at all, but at volleyball try outs I met someone who ended up not only being my best friend, but someone that I’ve been able to look up to since day one. Jennifer and I had a lot in common in that we were both quiet, nice girls who were hurting for friends. Me because I had a rough elementary school experience, and her because she had just moved to Illinois all the way from Texas. Being friends with Jennifer shaped me in so many wonderful ways, and I just wanted to share what makes my best friends so incredible. So maybe her humble side will kill me for writing this, but I just need to brag on her behalf- because my best friend is pretty incredible. Jennifer is so smart and so driven. I have always been so amazed at how hard she works in order to succeed – and succeed she does. Jennifer graduated number one in our class, and now she is off doing great things in Texas studying to be a doctor.

If I were in her shoes I would have been terrified to go off to a school so far away from anyone that I knew – but of course, being Jennifer, she’s planted her roots and flourished. Being friends with Jennifer has taught me to be brave and to be confident and seek adventure. The first adventure being flying down to Texas alone to visit her this past summer! Finally Jennifer is so comfortable with herself – back when I was a self-conscious middle-schooler she didn’t seem to care what people thought and she would be her fun, goofy self. I didn’t find enough comfort in myself to be 100% authentic until high school, but I am certain that being friends with Jennifer sped that process along.

Jennifer is just one of the many women I look up to in my life – I want to hear about yours! Let me know about a fabulous woman in your life and then visit the Phenomenal Effect website to enter Lean Cuisine’s promotion and help spread the Phenomenal Effect by recognizing the phenomenal women in your life and encouraging them to do the same. You could win prizes for yourself and everyone that you recognize!
