If you’ve been here for a while, you might know that living a healthy life is super important to me. Between working out and eating right I am definitely managing on my own, but I’ve felt like I’ve plateaued physically. In high school I ran cross country and track, and I had a great coach pushing me and planning intense workouts for the team. After graduation I was in charge of my own fitness regimen, and it was definitely lacking.

I never had the motivation to plan super intense workouts for myself, or push myself too far past comfortable. Recently though, I was introduced to Download the Mountain Athletics App, and it takes all of the guess work out of planning a workout, pushing me way harder than I have been pushing myself.

The app offers training plans for running, skiing, and climbing. I am training for a 10k road race this fall, so I opted for the running training plan and it is absolutely amazing. The plan is curated to get you in top shape in just 40 days and includes videos so you can be sure that you are performing each move correctly. The running plan focuses on strength, speed, and power, assuring that you will be able to perform at your best and be strong enough to avoid injury.

To keep you motivated, the app also has badges for certain tasks – I got one for working out on Mother’s Day! The badges are a fun reward after a tough workout, and collecting badges is a great way to stay motivated.

There are also assessments so that you can monitor your growth – after doing to 2 mile for time I can say with certainty that I have a long ways to go before I am as fit as I was in high school, but I have doubts that if I keep following the training plan I will get there in time for the race. The app accounts for recovery days, too, which is so important. As somebody who seems to be chronically injured, listen to me when I say take your recovery days seriously! Pushing yourself is great, but don’t push yourself into an injury! The app has recovery days for a reason – use those days to stretch, eat right, and mentally prepare for your next workout.

And you might also want to use some of that time to pick out new workout gear from the Mountain Athletics from The North Face line! It isn’t too late to enter to win a $500 North Face Gift Card!
