My College Morning Routine.

The semester is finally in full swing and I’ve quickly fallen into a routine that I can seemingly do in my sleep. After a sort of turbulent sophomore year, I’ve been really focused on taking care of myself and maintaining my health this semester – physically, mentally, and emotionally. With that said, my morning routine is very reflective of that new focus, and I thought that busy college students like myself could really benefit from seeing how I am taking care of myself amidst all of the everyday stress.


7:30// I like to get up quite a bit earlier than class, because there is nothing I hate more than feeling rushed. I take this time to relax in bed, drink a big cup of water (I highly recommend this! It wakes me up more than anything else!), and check my emails.

7:45// Time for what is arguably the best part of my day – breakfast! This year I’m living in an apartment for the first time and the freedom to eat things other than dining hall food has been a blessing. My go to is a baked avocado with cheese and ham, paired with my caffeine of choice. Depending on how I am feeling I will either jog or run back to my apartment – I only live a few blocks from the gym!

9:30// Once I get home it’s time to freshen up and get ready for my day – this includes showering, doing my hair, (maybe!) doing my makeup, and filling out my planner. If you’ve been around here for a while you know that I’m just a little planner crazy – and this year I have an entirely new routine I’ll share with you all soon! 

I’m a planner junkie – I can’t start my day without filling out my planner!

10:15// Time to work! This semester my classes don’t start until late (something I originally dreaded but don’t mind so much anymore) so I still try and make my mornings productive. This means taking blog pictures, writing posts, replying to emails, basically whatever I need to get done for the day. I will wrap this up by reviewing my reading notes for class – it’s time to start getting ready!

11:00// My schedule on Mondays and Wednesdays has me in class from 11:30 until 3:30 making it hard to have a normal lunch, so usually I’ll either eat something now if I’m hungry, or pack a snack to have on the go. I usually won’t have much, just enough to hold me over until after class when I’ll have a real meal.

11:15// From there I start the trek to class and my school day officially begins!
