How to Wake up to a Good Hair Day Every Day

Some people might call my beauty routine “lazy.” Me? I prefer the term efficient. I value sleep more than I value most anything else, and my daily routine tends to reflect that.

I like saving time getting ready in the mornings but I also like looking polished and put together, so I’m all about sneaky shortcuts so I can sleep in and still look nice.

The number one thing I focus on? My hair. I have a mane that is more like a lion’s than a show pony’s, so if I want to wake up looking Beyonce flawless, I need to go in with a game plan.

Waking up to a good hair day starts in the shower. The products you use and your scrubbing habits will play a huge role in how your hair looks in the morning.

My favorite shampoo and conditioner

Me? I’ve been using the Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume Collection Shampoo and Conditioner. I have baby-fine hair that is easily weighed down, so the Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume collection does a great job combatting that

The Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume Collection preps my hair for big volume do’s, and also provides manageability so I can style my hair with ease. The result is 100 percent full, thick and weightless body that lasts for up to 24 hours.

When I shampoo my hair I focus on carefully working a small little dollop – no larger than a nickel – into my hair and rinsing with warm water rather than hot.

The conditioner, though, is what has been a huge game changer for me. Conditioners have always weighed my hair down making me choose between moisture and volume. Somehow (magic, maybe?) this formula does both. My hair is silky soft after every shower, but there is still plenty of volume and bounce. A little bit of conditioner goes a long way, too!

Post shower routine

I am #TeamAirdry mostly because I hate blow drying my hair, but also because it’s always good to limit heat. Working from home gives me that luxury, but if I were hustling to make it to work on time I’d 100% blow dry.

Once my hair is dry I’ll either let it be, or go in with my curling wand. I curl small, tight sections and then finger brush through for natural looking curls on day one.

Once I’ve brushed through my hair I go in with my Pantene Air Spray and do a light, even mist. It doesn’t take much to hold my curls into place, so I try to have a light hand. Pantene Pro-V Airspray Strong Hold Hairspray preps hair for an amplified look inspired by collagen, but also provides manageability so you can create your full-bodied style.

Here’s where the magic happens…

If you want to wake up with beautiful, second-day waves you need to handle your curls strategically the night before.

I opt for silly, Princess Leia buns on either side of my head, gently twisted and pinned up. Before I style my buns, I gently finger comb through any knots and tangles that weaseled their way into my ‘do during the day.

Sometimes the buns don’t feel secure no matter what I do, and on those nights I’ll add an extra layer of security by wrapping my head in a silk scarf after I pin my buns.

In the morning it’s just a matter of letting the buns loose and tousling your hair a bit. You may find that you need to spend a minute or two touching up your face framing pieces, but other than that you’ll be good to go for anything from a shopping spree to a date night.
