When I’m asked to describe myself, usually the word ‘adventurer’ is one of the first that comes up. I’ve got an incurable case of wanderlust, and I’m rarely content staying still for too long. I’m lucky in that my drive for adventure doesn’t have to take me far, I just need to go somewhere. I’m on my junior year of college now, and it is safe to say that my campus has already be thoroughly explored a few times over, and the lack of new-ness has driven me a little stir-crazy. While I don’t have a car on campus, I was recently introduce ZipCar – a car sharing service that gives students freedom to adventure on their terms. Reserving a car is super easy and affordable (you can reserve by the hour or day!) My boyfriend and I rented a car so we could drive to Peoria and meet up with my parents at my dad’s favorite restaurant! It was great because travelling in college was never easy – but with Zipcar it was a breeze!
I’ve driven through Peoria more times than I can count, but never have I actually had the opportunity to explore the city! First off – the drive there is great! We spent the whole time on the interstate, and all of the ZipCars are new (the models are one or two years old!) so we could hook our phones in and listen to our favorite music on the way! The road trip itself was great even before we made it to the city! Once we got to Peoria we had to stop at an ice cream shop (a predictable move for us if you know us at all) and it was amazing! We were bad and did that before dinner but we still made room! My parents met us at the restaurant (it was the first time I had gotten to see them since moving back to school!) and it was really fun to enjoy good food and catch up. After dinner we had to make the decision whether we should use our remaining time to explore more and go grocery shopping before heading home – and we decided on the latter. Zipcar is great because it gives us freedom to do anything. Want to drive halfway across the state? Go for it – you get a free 180 miles with your reservation! Need groceries? Rent a zipcar for an hour or two and avoid spending an hour on the bus. I’m eager to see what else that Zipcar allows me to do this year – combine the convenience of having cars right on campus and the affordable price point and I know that I will be making many more reservations during my undergrad career.
If you are interested in the freedom Zipcar allows – you can save ten dollars when you sign up for Zipcar thanks to Ford! Signing up is easy, and approval doesn’t take long. If you have an adventurer’s heart like me, I definitely think you should give them a shot! You can also check them out on social media looking for the hashtag #whatmakesmefree!
