As a baby name consultant, I get to see a lot of patterns in baby name trends. This year it’s non-frilly feminine girl names.
In 2022 and 2023 I saw so many requests for “boy names for girls.” Some parents were looking for cute nickname vibes: Frankie, Stevie, Scottie, and so on. Others wanted more formal options: Wesley, Arlo, Everett, and the like.
This year I’ve seen a shift and instead of boy names for girls, parents are asking for girl names that lean feminine still without feeling frilly. This can mean different things for different people, so I’m always sure to clarify, but largely we’re avoiding names ending with -ia, -bel, and -lie.
If you’re looking for an unmistakenly feminine girl name without the frills, perhaps one of these will feel like the right fit.
