My Skincare Routine and Favorite Products.

Coming up with a skincare routine that works can be infuriating. Buying new products only to be disappointed is frustrating, and not seeing the results your friends are seeing can be disheartening. Luckily I’ve come up with my skincare routine that works for me, and perhaps you can draw some product inspiration from it, as well.

My Skincare Routine (on clear skin days)

  • Splash my face with cold water.
  • A thin layer of coconut oil

  • Remove my makeup
  • Wash my face with a gentle cleanser
  • Use my clarisonic (every other day)
  • Use a thin layer of coconut oil

coconut oil

I have an entire post regarding how I use coconut oil, but to sum it up: This is my holy grail product. It is great for moisturizing and it absorbs really quickly on my dry skin so I am not left looking or feeling greasy. Coconut oil also has antibacterial properties so it helps fight against acne. I put a dollop between my palms, warm it up by rubbing my hands together, then pat it onto my face. I also use it on my eyelashes to help them grow long!

These are by far the best face wipes I have ever used. I picked them up at Target for two or three dollars and my face feels clean after I use them. Of course I still wash my face afterwards because I don’t want the leftover cleanser and makeup sitting on my face, but I wouldn’t feel as guilty if I skipped washing my face after using these as I would with other wipes I have tried.

This is a little pricey, but it’s amazing. It has lasted me for over two years because a little bit goes a long way. It is very simple and doesn’t have any of those unnecessary frills like added scents or colors, which I love. This is handsdown the best face was I’ve ever used.

I am head over heels in love with my Clarisonic Mia. I got this for my sixteenth (maybe seventeenth?) birthday and I haven’t looked back. It cleans so deeply and for the most part keeps my skin super clear. When I get lazy and don’t use it for a week, I definitely face the consequences. My skin feels less smooth, it breaks out along my temples, and my makeup doesn’t go on as nicely. I am in love with this.

My Skincare Routine (with acne)

  • Splash my face with cold water
  • Witchazel to tone
  • A thin layer of coconut oil

  • Remove my makeup
  • Wash my face with my acne cleanser
  • Use my Tanda Zap on pimples
  • Use a thin layer of coconut oil

acne was

I tried this for the first time when I had a pretty bad breakout, and the next morning the size of the pimples were cut in half and the angry redness faded to just a slightly irritated pink, which is when I officially added it to my skincare routine. It smells great and the exfoliation is enough to smooth my skin without further irritating my breakouts. I only use this when I actually have a breakout though, because otherwise it’s a little drying.

tanda zap

This is the newest addition to my skincare routine, I won this in a raffle and I started out as the world’s biggest skeptic. But I’ve been swayed. I use this on any stubborn acne and it really does reduce the size/severity of the acne and that’s all there is to it. I don’t think I’d buy it, but considering I won it I am more than happy to use it! It has replaced my harsh spot treatment that I used to use.
