.Recently I spent an afternoon with the ladies at the Kelley Cawley Boutique in Burr Ridge’s Village Center and let me just say: major heart eyes. The boutique is beautifully curated and laid out and everywhere you look there are pretty details waiting to be discovered.
Growing up in the Quad Cities, shopping options were bleak. In the past few years lovely shops have popped up, but before, the good shopping was out of town.
The two biggest destinations were Chicago and Coralville, but both are crowded and a bit overwhelming. Not too far outside of Chicago, though, is the Burr Ridge Village Center. It’s a beautiful open air mall with a mix of high end shops and boutiques.
Kelley Cawley’s team was kind enough to invite me to try on a few looks they hand picked for me, and I thought I’d share them with you for some end-of-summer fashion inspiration.
Little black dress
This first one may be one of my favorites. The look is simple and understated but undeniably chic. The fun pom poms and beautiful necklaces really take the outfit to the next level. The shoes are nothing I would have normally chosen for myself, but once I had them on I was sold.
The cut of the dress is fairly straight, so tying a jean jacket around the waist is a casual alternative to a belt. Plus! It’s great to take your look from daytime to chilly summer nights.
The perfect crop top
This next look transformed me into the effortlessly cool girl-next-door vibes I’d always strived for but managed to fall short of every time. The mix of the casual crop top and torn jeans with more tailored shoes worked in a way I wasn’t expecting.
And this cut of crop top is perfect for us long torsoed girls because the curved shape gives a fun peek of skin without feeling totally exposed.
I don’t know about you, but because I’m 99% abdomen, most crop tops I try on feel more like sports bras. Finding crop tops that don’t leave me feeling like I should be going to the beach is always a cause for celebration.
What jean dreams are made of
See these jeans? They’re not just any jeans. They have this super cool contrast stripe down the sides of each leg that is so flattering. I was incredibly tempted to buy a pair to take home, but it was 90 degrees that day. Even thinking about wearing jeans for an extended period of time was enough to break me out in a sweat.
Honestly, though? Still regretting not buying a pair.
A #TallGirlFriendly romper from Kelley Cawley
With that said, this is what I did end up taking home. Again, I’m going to drone on about my long torso. Even worse than finding crop tops is finding rompers that are long enough for my stomach. This one? It’s perfect. I’ve been wearing it one repeat and it’s a great piece to dress up or down.
I am a bit of a bralette hoarder, so I have so many pretty pieces to pair with it and I’ve loved how the bralette (or lack of) can totally change up the vibe.
While Kelley Cawley carries hundred of brands, they also have their own line of clothes that this romper is included in. And I can say with conviction that their line is Tall Girl Friendly.
Throwback to my signature color
In high school, this shade of pink was my jam. If it came in coral, it was mine: my homecoming dress, half of my wardrobe, all of my folders, everything.
So, of course I was thrilled to try this number on.
And the necklace? The stone is real so every single piece is unique. Amazing!
The store is beautiful and if you’re considering going to Chicago for shopping, make a detour to check out The Burr Ridge Village Center and Kelley Cawley. It’s well worth the extra time in the car.
