Fall footwear: The essentials.

When people ask me my favorite season I have such a hard time answering – there is so much to love about each season! But when people ask for my favorite season for fashion that’s easy. I live for fall fashion. Being able to wear cozy layers, deep colors, and fab boots is my absolute favorite and even though just a few days ago it was in the nineties – it’s already fall in my mind.

So even though I can’t exactly wear any of my fall clothes yet, I have been mentally preparing outfits in my head for weeks.

With this September heat, I really can’t take outfit pictures, so I thought it would be fun to start talking about fall footwear until the weather decides to catch up to me.

So, as was probably expected, the majority of shoes featured in this post will be boots – as they are pretty much the crux of fall fashion (for me, anyways!) But I’m a firm believer in the idea that a girl can never have too many pairs of boots so I am just going to share my favorites with you!

The Riding Boot.

The first pair of boots that I ever saved up for were a pair of dark brown riding boots. These are a universally flattering classic – and if I could only have one pair of boots for the rest of eternity – it would be riding boots.

My favorite ways to style riding boots is with socks peeking out. Skinny jeans and a big, comfy sweater have you looking good without even trying.

The Rain Boot.

So, I know that in some areas, rain boots are reserved for the spring and the spring alone. Well, I live in the midwest where occasions to wear rain boots arise year round. My mom found me my first pair (ever!) at the end of the season last year and I’ve already had more than one occasion to wear them since returning to campus. Rain boots are a godsend.

Rainy Day

The Ankle Bootie.

Ok, I know that I said I love riding boots, but ankle booties also have a special place in my heart. Whether they are heeled or flat, they can instantly take an otherwise boring outfit to chic. This summer I accidentally acquired quite the collection of ankle booties and I am not complaining. Black, brown. Heeled, flat. I’ve got them all and can’t wait to start styling them as the weather cools down a bit!

City Chic

The everyday casual.

For day to day errands I’m definitely more casual than the rest of these outfits – and more often than not I’m in either my Keds or Converse. I can pair them with basically everything and they are super comfy! And I love you all so much – I’m giving away a pair of Keds on the bottom of the post!

Ked Set

The flat.

In middle school ballet flats were all the rage, and I feel like they’ve stopped getting the recognition they deserve! A good ballet flat looks elegant, girly, and stylish while staying super comfortable. I love pairing flats with those sneaky outfits that are super easy going and comfy, but make it look like you tried!

Casual Friday
After reviewing this post – I guess it’s pretty obvious what my favorite hues for fall are! I want you to tell me what look out of these that you’d be most likely to wear in the comments! (p.s. I made all of these outfits on Polyvore which was my favorite site in middle school. I hadn’t been on for years – did any of you used to use Polyvore?)
Now for the giveaway! I’ve been loving doing giveaway lately, because y’all rock and deserve to have nice things and I want to be the one to give them to you! I have a fancy little gift card for a pair of Keds (some limitations on what kind!) that I don’t need (I have enough casual shoes!) so I want to pass it onto one of you.
