Back to School: Game Day Fashion & a DIY.

When it comes to back to school I’m trying not to think too much about the late nights at the library, exams, and the stress that comes with classes. Instead I’m looking at the positives – catching up with friends, living in an apartment instead of the dorms, and game day.

Game day at Illinois is always so fun and so festive. Blue and orange as far as the eye can see and so many fun events. Even if historically our team hasn’t always been the best (hey! We’re working on it!) the support is there.

Morph suits, face paint, and crazy accessories are the norm on game day. Me? I prefer to show my pride for the orange and blue in a more fashionable manner. I’m so excited that Impression’s Boutique came out with a Game Day Gear line that combines my love for my school with my love for cute clothes. I was able to pick out a few pieces that best displayed my take on gameday fashion and I’m so excited to share them with you!

Southern Stripes Tuinc.

Stripes are a staple in my wardrobe, and I’m so thrilled to have some stripes that also show off my school spirit! This tunic is made of such soft material and it’s so comfortable! What’s great about all of the pieces is that while yes they are perfect for game day, they aren’t so wild that I can’t wear them any other time.

Playing the Field Tunic.

This tunic is definitely my favorite piece. It really plays to the bohemian flair that is in most of my everyday outfits, and it is just so comfortable! I’ve never owned a cold shoulder top before, but now I’m dying for more!

Before I actually saw it in person, I wasn’t sure that I would love it but already it’s made it into regular rotation in my wardrobe! I love the contrast of the colors and how flattering it looks!

University of Illinois Gingham Tunic.

This is the University of Illinois Gingham Tunic (also known as the most comfortable & soft top I’ve ever owned) and I’m obsessed. I got this in a size up so it would be super loose and comfortable and it did not disappoint! I love that while it looks relaxed, it also looks super cute. This is going to be perfect for games in the late fall after the weather has changed.

And a DIY.

A friend recently showed me how to make these super easy tunic headbands (though I’ll admit that hers turned out better) but I’m still super happy with mine! All you need is an old T-shirt and optional tie-dye!

All you need to do is cut off the bottom hem of a fitted (that’s important!) t-shirt and then cut two more strips to whatever thickness you prefer. I used a plain white T-shirt, so I took it a step further and died one of my strips orange, and the other blue.

From there all that’s left to do is loop the two loops together by overlapping them and then folding them over each other (check the graphic for a better idea!) and wear it to the next game!
