One Week to Radiant Skin ft. Palmers Coconut Oil Formula

I participated in this sponsored campaign for Palmer’s® Coconut Oil Formula on behalf of One2One Network. All opinions stated are my own.

I’ve been a bit quiet the past few weeks—if you don’t follow me on social media you might not know that I’ve been in New York for work since the tenth. I lived in New York for half of 2016, and to prepare for the trip I knew one thing: I needed to get my skincare under wraps.
You see, my skin doesn’t play nice with the dirty, smoggy city air. My entire six months in New York were riddled with breakouts on bad days, but even my “good skin days” meant I was acne free, but my skin was still dry and dull.

I’m not joking when I say it took months to bounce back from that after moving back to the fresh, midwest air.

I didn’t want to reverse all of the work I’ve put into my skin, so I partnered with Palmer’s® and their Coconut Oil Formula line to maintain my skin and keep it bright. Of course, I didn’t want to focus on skincare alone, so I also was intentional about what I put into my body. (And New York has so many delicious restaurants it’s easy to eat healthily!

As I’m writing this, I’m 8 days into my trip, and for the first week I took Palmer’s® 7 Day Challenge to a More Luminous You (though who am I kidding, I’ll be keeping this up because my skin is glowing) and documented the week long challenge.

The products

To complete the challenge, Palmers® sent me the products that make up their Coconut Oil Formula Line and a regimen of what to use when. All Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula products are free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, phthalates, GMOs, harsh chemicals. They’re also non-comedogenic, dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and made with sustainable and fair trade ingredients.

Here was my lineup:

palmersss

Cleansing Balm
This balm has Extra Virgin Certified Organic Coconut Oil, Coconut Water, Coconut Milk, Tahitian Monoi, and a slew of other natural ingredients that a.) make it smell like an absolute tropical dream, and b.) make the formula super gentle and incredibly hydrating.

To use the balm, I scoop a half tablespoon (or so) out with clean fingers and rub it all over my face and eyes. From there, I use a wet muslin cloth and gentle circling motions to wash the balm (and all of the grossness that was on my face) away.

I love this balm because it removes every last trace of makeup, dirt, pollution, and surface bacteria, purifying and detoxing my face without stripping it of moisturizer.

Facial Moisturizer
Next up in the regiment is Facial Moisturizer. It’s got a hydration–boosting cocktail of coconut water, coconut milk, and other skin replenishers that help revitalize and brighten your skin.

For the past five years or so I’ve been using straight coconut oil as a moisturizer, and am a bit of a purist in that I was skeptical that I really needed all of those extra fancy ingredients when coconut oil was serving me well all of these years.

Well, I’m a convert. This formula sinks into my skin so much quicker than straight coconut oil and immediately gives me a radiant glow. Plus! The coconut water keeps my face looking radiant throughout the day which is a major bonus.

Facial Scrub
Again, I had a few reservations. The main one being that I’m traumatized by scrubs after an unfortunate apricot abrasion that left my face red and blotchy for a week senior year. I approached this scrub with caution but can honestly say I actually really like it.

There is raw coconut sugar that gently (!!!) exfoliates and purifies skin without feeling like it’s scratching or scraping. I think using sugar as the exfoliant is key for a gentle scrub.

Again, the scrub has coconut water that keeps your skin looking fresh and moisturized even hours after you’ve finished scrubbing.

Luminous Hydration Facial Oil
This is the one I was most excited about. I’m all about oils and any containers that make me feel like a scientist. The Luminous Hydration Facial Oil is a cocktail of 10 skin–loving oils that leave a dewy radiant glow that lasts throughout the day.

Now here is where the magic happens. In the past, I’ve used facial oils at night. They are generally greasy and shiny and best used when you won’t be seeing anyone for the next 8-10 hours.

This oil is different, it hydrates and maintains your skin’s optimal moisture level without causing your skin to look oily. I put this on before work and by the time I’m there I look glowy, not greasy.

Hydrating Facial Mask
Masks are my jam. Masks are how I fixed my skin after I moved home from New York. Masks are my guilty pleasure. And this mask? New holy grail.

It’s got rich, natural oils that can rehydrate the driest of skin. It’s different from other masks I’ve used in that it’s gentle and hydrating rather than being intense or drying. In fact, you can (and should) sleep with this mask.

This is one product where I didn’t follow the regimen exactly because after using it once I couldn’t help but try it again the next night. And the night after that. Oops.

After a week…

As far as break–outs and blemishes go, so far so good. In fact, my skin has been behaving so well I’d have even ditched the bb cream for my day–to–day if I didn’t need the SPF. (I mean, this wouldn’t be a Mostly Morgan skincare post if I didn’t promote the use of sunscreen at least once, right?)

Today I had a girlfriend take fun pictures for me to put in this post and show off my newly radiant skin, but I thought I’d be able to drive the point home even further if I snapped a quick selfie after taking my makeup off for the day to show you the results.

Actually, who am I kidding? Let’s throw in a fun, out–on–the–town picture, too.

My extra steps

To truly get my most radiant skin, Palmers encouraged me to go the extra mile and pick an activity each day to connect me to my body and eat well. Being that I’m in the city for work, that gave me a 2.2 mile round–trip to–and–from the office each day, but most days I tried to go even beyond that and incorporate yoga or meditation into the routine.

As for diet goes, I’ve been looking forward to this trip for months for the food alone. I’m into eating healthy to begin with, so I was able to enjoy my favorite green–filled restaurants in the city and know that my skin was benefiting from my indulgence, too.

This challenge has completely changed the way I look at skincare (helloooo more focus on natural ingredients and oils!) and how the way you live your day to day life can have an impact on your skin.

Now? It’s your turn. I want you to take the 7–Day Challenge to a More Luminous You and let me know how it goes. And while you’re at it, head over to my Instagram and enter my contest to win the entire line of Palmer’s® Coconut Oil Formula products.

  • What are you doing in NYC? Also you should write a post with your favorite green restaurants, would love to check them out!

    • I was in New York for work! I work remotely for a company based out of the city, but needed to come into town to work on a big project 😀

And that’s a great idea! I’m going back in July so I’ll do it then. Thank you!
