Let me just confess something to you guys: I am a smoothie fanatic. I love experimenting with different combinations of fruits, bases, and juices in my efforts to create a smoothie that is not only delicious, but also beautiful in color. After making countless smoothies, I think I have finally created a new favorite. I love berry based smoothies, and this one is definitely a winner. The strawberries and blueberries create a really sweet base, and the contrasting tartness of the cherries help tone it down. Not only is the smoothie delicious, but it’s made with completely healthy ingredients so it’s guilt free, too! It is high in antioxidants, vitamins, and calcium. Even though it is definitely delicious enough to have for dessert, it is healthy enough to eat for breakfast. In fact, it’s healthier than the sugary cereals, waffles, and oatmeals that so many people eat for breakfast! Smoothie Health Benefits: Now let’s break down what’s in this super smoothie: We have blueberries which are full of antioxidants, cherries that contain vitamin C and anthocyanin which helps ease inflammation, strawberries for added antioxidants and orange juice for another vitamin C boost. not to mention a plain yogurt base which adds calcium and allows the smoothie to be filling… View Post

A few weeks ago I talked to you about stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something that scares you. I mentioned how starting this blog was that for me. But what I forgot to tell you is that whether it scares you or not you should start a blog, too. My life has honestly been changed by this exciting journey I started just six months ago. I have a new circle of friends from all over the country, a passion that is slowly leading me to great opportunities, and I’m learning some really great skills that will benefit me for the rest of my life. If that isn’t enough to convince you to start a blog, I decided to compile a list of the most beneficial reasons to start a blog. You’ll Make New Friends To be a successful blogger you are going to need to network with other bloggers, and I promise that it won’t be long before you find that you really “click” with some bloggers in particular. Despite being an anomaly in the blogging world by being a teenager, I’ve found that I have made connections with bloggers of all demographics that I wouldn’t trade for the world!… View Post

I’ve always been lucky – growing up I had countless incredible women to look up to. My mom, my grandma, aunts, and cousins – plus women outside of my family. I do realize that not everyone is quite as fortunate which sparked the idea of a new series for here on the blog. Every month or so I will be featuring a woman on the blog who has done something amazing or inspiring. Considering the number of great women I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in my life – it’s safe to say that this series will be going on for years. And if you know a woman who has done great things you can send me an email and perhaps she’ll be featured! So without further ado, I present to you the first woman featured in my You Go Girl! series on the blog. I first met Lindsay O’Brien last summer while shopping in her store, Good Karma. the meeting was very brief but it stuck in my mind. Anyone who knows me well knows that I can tend to be soft spoken, but while ringing me up Lindsay talked to me like I was her friend – and I never forgot that. I went… View Post

Last week I turned nineteen which led me to reminiscing about the ‘good ‘ol days.’  My ponderings led me to realize that in just ten years a lot has changed in today’s youth. When I was nine I didn’t have a cell phone, and neither did any of my friends. We only went online to feed our neopets and email each other, and we most certainly didn’t have any social media accounts. But I realize now that a lot has changed – the little girl I babysit had an iPad before she even reached double digits, and 10 year olds are texting each other on their smartphones. Now I can’t say that I am surprised – technology is growing rapidly and it really is incredible – but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit concerned. While most parents do a great job monitoring their children’s internet use and ensuring that they aren’t finding things that aren’t suitable for young eyes and minds, there are the parents who aren’t monitoring their kids as they should. I have a very sassy, but still very innocent little cousin who will be entering the second grade this fall. Her parents do… View Post

I would be a liar if I said that part of me didn’t want to be Mia Thermopolis. In case you aren’t familiar, Mia Thermopolis is the crown Princess of Genovia. She was swept away by her grandmother Clarisse and transformed from a socially awkward wallflower into well, a princess. And a darn good one at that! But before she was swept away to her castle, she lived in a really cool firehouse turned apartment with her mother in San Francisco. Her mother is an incredibly creative artist, and she introduces Mia to balloon art. So what is balloon art? In the movie the mother daughter duo had the luxury of an entire white wall where they could tack balloons filled with different colors of paints and they proceeded to throw darts at the balloons resulting in a beautiful splattering, dripping, mess of color – and it’s absolutely amazing. Inspiration struck hard, and I decided that I absolutely must experience balloon art. This project was a really fun date for Chris and I, so I thought I would share with all of YOU how to recreate it! What you’ll need: -Canvas (or a T-shirt, or a blank wall, anything really!) -Water balloons -Straight Pins… View Post
