If you’ve been around for a while, chances are you remember my failed attempt at fashion blogging a few months back. Well, I’m back to redeem myself.
I’ve always admired how effortless fashion bloggers seem. They have the poses down, a flawless smile, and they literally look like they woke up like that.
Well unless they know something I don’t, let me tell you: fashion blogging is anything but effortless. First of all, you need to beg someone to brave the cold, unforgiving winter to take pictures of you (thanks, Chris!), you have to not look awkward even though there are people staring at you, and you have to pretend that something super funny is happening just to the left of the camera in order to perfect the classic fashion blogger pose. All of this while wearing a dress in -10 degree weather.
Despite all of that, it’s actually sort of… fun. Don’t get me wrong, it’s awkward and embarrassing, but once you get over that and own what you’re doing you can strike silly poses and just go with it. I actually really enjoyed shooting this post.
Thanks to Lookbook Store, I was able to try out a few gorgeous pieces that I instantly fell in love with. I’m going through a neutral phase right now, so I stuck to a black, white, and grey color scheme and I really like how the outfit turned out.
First things first, lets talk about this dress. This is the Striped Asymmetrical Dress from Lookbook Store and it is everything I have ever wanted out of a dress. The cut is absolutely gorgeous – I am beyond in love with the uneven hemline. I was worried about it being too short, as I am rather tall, but it fits perfectly! The snug fit is tight enough to be flattering, but not so tight that I feel uncomfortable in it, which is sometimes a difficult balance.
I can’t wait until the weather is a bit warmer so I can wear this for real – I love how it can be dressed up or down. I definitely can see myself pairing it with chucks to go to the mall, or styled a lot like it is in the picture with heels and minimalistic jewelry for a date night. This is definitely my new go-to dress.
Now the jacket is truly fantastic. It’s Lookbook Store’s Zipper-Lapel Blazer I love the cut, the structure, and the color blocking. Plus it’s just a teeny bit edgy while still looking super classy, which I am crazy about. This is might be my new favorite piece of clothing that I own. The only thing is, remember when I said I was really tall? Well the sleeves are just a bit short, but as soon as I get home to my sewing machine I plan on doctoring it up so it’ll fit perfectly. So despite the fact that it might look a little awkward on me with a bit of my forearm is hanging out, don’t underestimate how gorgeous this jacket is.
It’s beautiful, huh? Plus, I am crazy about how unique it is, I’ve never seen a jacket like this before, which is a real shame because I think everyone needs a piece like this in their wardrobe. Like the dress, this can so easily be dressed up or dressed down making it perfect for any occasion. That’s one reason I love neutrals so much, because of their versatility.
