It’s that time of year again, when all of my relatives start texting and asking for my Christmas list. Ten years ago it was easy to come up with a list: I was hoping for friendship bracelet floss, craft kits.
Now that I’m older I am lucky to be in a position where I don’t find myself wanting for much which is probably why everyone tells me that I’m so hard to shop for. Honestly though, I feel as though the college girl demographic in itself is hard to shop for. We are at that age where we are picky in style, we’ve outgrown toys but have nowhere to put appliances, and we seem to already have all of the latest tech.
In brainstorming the best advice to give someone looking to buy gifts for us, I had a bit of an ‘ah-ha’ moment. While it’s safe to say that no two college girls are the same, one thing that most of us do have in common by virtue of being in college is over the roof stress levels.
And I can’t speak for all college girls, but personally I have trouble taking the time or spending the money to pamper myself. As far as gifts go, I think any girl would appreciate a curated gift bag full of things that will require her to take some time for herself.
is a one stop shop for finding all things pampering – between fuzzy socks
and cozy pajamas
and their entire
in-store, they have everything you need in order to build the ultimate
destressing gift box for your college girl!
Gift Box Inspo.
To get you started, I came up with a few of my favorite things from JCPenney that you can potentially fill a bag with to give to your stressed out student.
Skincare supplies double as pampering and a necessity, and a lot of college girls choose the cheapest option at the drugstore when it comes to skincare supplies. JCPenney has a huge range of skincare brands – my favorite being Philosophy and First Aid Beauty.
The cult favorite (and my favorite!) from Philosophy is their Purity Made Simple Face Cleanser
– it’s very simple and has a great, fresh scent. This one is my go to! You can’t go wrong with First Aid Beauty, either, and right now they have a lot of little samplers
for the holiday season!
Another option along the same lines of skincare are self tanners. I’m a sun safety fanatic (wear sunscreen, folks!) but I still like a little glow, too. In the winter everyone’s skin starts to look a little dull and sallow, a self tanner can be the perfect pick me up! I’ve heard great things about the St. Tropez Tanning Essentials Bronzing Mousse
, so I actually picked some up in preparation for my trip to Florida!
So maybe I need to speak for myself, but I’m not one to really ever splurge when it comes to makeup. I’m not big on wearing makeup as it is, so spending a lot of money on it isn’t something I’m inclined to do. But I do feel a little fancier when my lipstick came from somewhere other than the drugstore, and sometimes that is all I need to give me some much needed confidence.
So if your college girl isn’t necessarily one to treat herself, you might be able to help make her feel a little extra glamorous each time she uses your gift!
Before I build up to the more exciting gifts, I’ll start off with a functional one. Benefit’s Erase Paste
has helped me disguise more sleepless nights than I can count, and I’m sure it’ll continue serving that purpose long into the future. Long nights and early mornings are basically a right of passage in college, and this is a holy grail product for those of us running on fumes.
Alright, value sets are where things really
start to get exciting. These are especially fun if you have multiple girls to shop for. You can get three or four value sets and divide them up between the lucky recipients! You can give it a theme like ‘lip products
‘ or you can opt for a more diverse basket!
really has all you need when it comes to Christmas shopping – whether your shopping for the sporty guy, the wild child, or the college girl who needs some pampering make sure that you check them out! For Black Friday, get in store early this year! You could get a $10 off $10 or $100 off $100 instant-savings coupon, or maybe even a $500 off $500 super-savings coupon (while supplies last and some restrictions and exclusions apply). There’s also a chance to win 1 of 10 $10,000 cash grand prizes. All the details and official rules here.
What are you going to do this holiday season to pamper yourself amidst the craziness of shopping, parties, and other festivities?
