Hello everybody! I am back with my latest income report! I know it might come off as a bit strange to do income reports, but let me tell you why I like to do them: Transparency – there are a lot of ways to make money as a blogger – some honest, some not so much. I want to be completely transparent with you all to show you all exactly where I am making my money from and to assure you that I’m not pulling any funny business!  Growth Tracking – I have been publishing these since October, when I made $343 (though I made my first $40 in June!) and I’ve had so much fun keeping up with them every month. It’s definitely interesting to see how things are changing and where my income is really coming from. They are fun – when I first started realizing that you could monetize a blog, I was constantly checking out other bloggers’ reports and getting inspired. If you’re not a blogger these posts might not be your cup of tea, but blogger to blogger – I want to help open your eyes to the potential that your little slice of the internet has!  … View Post

Hello everybody! I am back with my latest income report so that I can hold myself accountable and tell you all how I am making money off of my blog! I have been publishing these since October, when I made $343 (though I made my first $40 in June!) and I’ve had so much fun keeping up with them every month. It’s definitely interesting to see how things are changing and where my income is really coming from. You may notice that this report is coming (way) late in the month, that’s because it takes awhile for Blogher to calculate exactly how much I made through their ads. I considered multiple times just estimating what  I thought I’d earn based on previous month’s data, I decided to forgo that and wait so I could be one hundred percent accurate! What I did this month. February was an absolutely crazy month. Normally when I schedule sponsored posts, I try and only do one a week, or put at least three non-sponsored posts in between them. Well, due to circumstances like some campaigns getting postponed, and others getting pushed up, it seemed like every other post I published the first few weeks of February was… View Post

Hello everybody! I am back with my latest income report so that I can hold myself accountable and tell you all how I am making money off of my blog! I have been publishing these since October, when I made $343 and I’ve had so much fun keeping up with them every month. It’s definitely interesting to see how things are changing and where my income is really coming from. What I did in January: Lately I have been trying to diversify my traffic. Over 90% of my visitors are coming from Pinterest, which is fantastic, but it also gives me anxiety. What if Pinterest changes their algorithms? What if my account gets deleted? What if . What if. What if. So I really focused on getting traffic from other places, and had (mild) success. As you can see below, I was so close to getting under 90% for Pinterest referral (in the future I hope to have it only be 20-30%! But I’m taking baby steps! I had some luck with StumbleUpon and Facebook this month, and managed to get some traffic from there. And honorable mentions go out to Tumblr and Bloglovin. By focusing on other channels I am not… View Post

Hello friends! If you’ve been around you may recall me publishing my first ever income report in November. I am posting my monthly income report for a few reasons: Accountability, so I can offer other bloggers advice, and so I can monitor my progress. I mentioned that this blog is my sole source of income, and I’m hoping to continue growing it and hopefully use my earnings to pay for grad school in 3 years. What I did in December. So December was a crazy month for me (and all of you too, I’m sure!) I was recovering from NaBloPoMo in November, dealing with finals, going home for the holidays, and of course spending some much needed time with friends and family. With that said, I only squeezed in ten blog posts in December, which isn’t awful but I would have like to have written more. I predicted I would make less money in December, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was off. Way off. I actually ended up making more than I ever have, which was super exciting. A lot of that came from sponsored posts, but also because BlogHer (much to my surprise) paid me quite well in… View Post

Hello friends! If you’ve been around you may recall me publishing my first ever income report last month. I am doing this for a few reasons: Accountability, so I can offer other bloggers advice, and so I can monitor my progress. I mentioned that this blog is my sole source of income, and I’m hoping to continue growing it and hopefully use my earnings to pay for grad school in 3 years. What I did in November: So, if you didn’t notice – I posted every single day in November. It was stressful, it was intense, and it was amazing. It didn’t have the huge impact on my numbers that I thought it would, though I did have a net gain of 14 subscribers (after losing quite a few who didn’t fancy seeing me in their inbox each day.) I did have slightly higher traffic, but nothing extreme. What this means for me: I don’t need to stress about posting everyday. I was almost afraid that it would have a huge positive impact, leaving me no choice but to keep that schedule. I love blogging with every fiber of my being, but at this point I just don’t have it in me… View Post
