So it’s that time again – time for me to publish my traffic & income report! Last month I started publishing them at the very beginning of the month rather than the middle because of changes made to how The Blogher Ad Network presents our income. We used to be able to see our final income figures 15 days after the month, but now it’s 35 days, so rather than publishing my income report over a month past month end,  I’m just going to publish without finalized figures. Why I do income reports. I know I add this disclaimer every month, but for people outside of the blogging community they may see this as an odd thing to do. My number one motivator in publishing these is transparency – a lot of blogger make money blogging, a lot of bloggers want to make money blogging but there is sort of a sense of secrecy among bloggers when it comes to the business side of blogging and numbers. Of course bloggers have every right to keep that information to themselves and that is fine – but it was bloggers who were open with their numbers and monetization methods that inspired me to take blogging seriously… View Post

I am back with another Income Report! These posts are really fun for me to write because I am able to share my best advice with you, all while analyzing my revenue and traffic streams from the previous months so I can start coming up with a plan of attack for the month ahead! Why do I do an income report? I know it might come off as a bit strange to do income reports to people outside of the blogging worldd, but let me tell you why I like to do them: Transparency – there are a lot of ways to make money as a blogger – some honest, some not so much. I want to be completely transparent with you all to show you all exactly where I am making my money from and to assure you that I’m not pulling any funny business!  Growth Tracking – I have been publishing these since October, when I made $343 (though I made my first $40 in June!) and I’ve had so much fun keeping up with them every month. It’s definitely interesting to see how things are changing and where my income is really coming from. They are fun – when I… View Post

I hope you are of the mind ‘better late than never’ because I am way behind on my April Income Report. I have mentioned before how it takes a while for Blogher to update the previous month’s revenue which is why my posts are usually about two weeks into the month. Well two weeks into May I was moving back to school, starting my nannying job, and my head was not in the game. I completely forgot about my income report! But now worries – I am righting that wrong! Better late than never, right? Why do I do an income report?
