I don’t know about you, but my skin is in some crazy limbo right now trying to adjust with the change in weather that comes along with fall. Living in Illinois, the fluctuation has been crazy: sunny and seventy five one day, dry and mid forties the next. It’s June! My favorite month of the year – it’s my birthday month, the first month of summer, and the weather is absolutely beautiful! But after how incredible May was, I am almost sad to see it go. May brought a ton of happiness through coming home for the summer, spending time with my favorite babies, and catching up with everyone! I’ve mentioned before that I am was training for a half marathon this summer – unfortunately and ankle injury made running impossible for the time being, but I am still regularly going to the gym to use the elliptical, lift weights, and do core exercises. I can’t rave enough about the benefits of working out and getting your daily dose of endorphins, but I will spare you from dealing with that and just say that working out – even if just for 15 or 20 minutes a day – will lift your mood and give you a huge energy boost. Trust me. But if you’re just working out and not pairing that with eating right, you aren’t going to be getting the most out of your time at the gym. When you’re looking for the ideal pre-workout meal you want something light, full of protein, and that is going to give you a ton of energy. Lately my go-to has been old fashioned oatmeal doctored up with a ton of extra goodies.
