This post is in partnership with Chloe + Isabel through Smart Girls Media Sisters. I’ve been in a serious fashion rut for the past few months. Spring is coming painfully slow here in Illinois, and there’s just not much I can do with the same uniform of skinny jeans and sweaters anymore. I’ve been stuck in a vicious fashion cycle, and I’m ready to switch things up. After praying for sun to come out and play for weeks, I got lucky with an unusually warm day. Pair that with some gorgeous new jewelry, and I finally had the inspiration I needed to break out of that old cycle and finally try something new! Enter Chloe + Isabel jewelry. Not only are their pieces on trend, this fashion forward brand that is designed in New York City and is hypoallergenic, nickel free and lead safe. I wanted the gorgeous Chloe + Isabel jewelry to be the main focus of the outfit, so I kept everything else quite simple with a plain black dress from Forever 21 and a pair of nude pumps that I’ve had since high school.
So I always get a bit of a thrill working on new blog posts – but today’s is special. Words can’t describe how eager I am to hit the publish button on this one. I seem to always be going on about how lucky I am to be surrounded by such incredible and talented women in my life – and now I am finally getting an opportunity to introduce one to you! Meet my lovely cousin, Christy! Tell us a little bit about yourself! Hello, my name is Christy! I’m a self-proclaimed perfectionist, my favorite outfits are always black, fashion magazines are my storybooks, I’m addicted to Sex and the City and I’m an artist and college student from Princeton, Illinois – a quaint town of 7,000 people. I am majoring in Fashion Retail Management at Purdue University, as well as minoring in Art and Design. However, I am currently spending my junior year studying in New York City at the Fashion Institute of Technology! What is the best part about living in New York? New York is unlike any place I’ve ever been. This may be cheesy, but the line from Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York” really sums… View Post
If you’ve been around for a while, chances are you remember my failed attempt at fashion blogging a few months back. Well, I’m back to redeem myself. I’ve always admired how effortless fashion bloggers seem. They have the poses down, a flawless smile, and they literally look like they woke up like that. Well unless they know something I don’t, let me tell you: fashion blogging is anything but effortless. First of all, you need to beg someone to brave the cold, unforgiving winter to take pictures of you (thanks, Chris!), you have to not look awkward even though there are people staring at you, and you have to pretend that something super funny is happening just to the left of the camera in order to perfect the classic fashion blogger pose. All of this while wearing a dress in -10 degree weather. Despite all of that, it’s actually sort of… fun. Don’t get me wrong, it’s awkward and embarrassing, but once you get over that and own what you’re doing you can strike silly poses and just go with it. I actually really enjoyed shooting this post. Thanks to Lookbook Store, I was able to try out a few gorgeous… View Post
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Soffe for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. I’ve been focusing a lot on my health lately, in all domains: mental, physical, and emotional. In doing so, I’ve found that you can’t really improve one without seeing the others improve, too. The biggest health booster for me has been going to the gym and working out. It makes me feel strong physically, and I’m also proud of what my body can accomplish. When I go I usually like to go with a girlfriend so we can cheer each other on and serve as motivation. My favorite way to workout with friends are going to the belly dance class offered at my gym, yoga, and weight lifting, I try to do each at least once a week. Needless to say, I am spending a lot of time at the gym and I’ll just say it: I like to look cute when I’m there. Expressing myself is super important to me, and sometimes my outfit is the best way to do so. If you see me at the gym, chances are that it’ll be in bright prints and fun colors. This has changed a lot since… View Post
So if you live in the United States you are probably quite aware that today is Thanksgiving. I considered writing a list of things I’m thankful for, but that list is long. I feel it’s needless to say that I am thankful for my friends and my family and all of you lovely people out there. So instead I thought I would provide you with what I believe to be the anatomy of the perfect Thanksgiving outfit. “But Morgan, shouldn’t any ol’ outfit do?” Oh no, you’re mistaking. There truly is an art to perfecting your Thanksgiving outfit – you need to look somewhat nice to impress the relatives, you need to have stretch room for your post-feast belly, and you need to be comfy for the sleepiness that inevitably comes from the Thanksgiving meal. You see, there really is a lot to it. But no worries, you have me here to walk you through it! Thanks to my boyfriend, I was able to capture these (admittedly a little awkward and staged) photos of my Thanksgiving outfit! As you see, I’m working my high stretch jeggings. They are from American Eagle and are so soft that they might as well… View Post
