I’ve mentioned here before that I love fall for it’s fashion – booties, and sweaters, and leggings – oh my! Last week we had our first real almost taste of fall on the U of I campus (even though highs are back in the eighties again this week) and I took full advantage of it! I couldn’t go all out, because admittedly it was still a little warm for chunky knits and scarves, but I still think I did a good job bringing in some fall vibes with this outfit. I pulled out my all-time favorite pair of booties from JC Penney, and some great Jessica Simpson cropped jeans (that I got for a steal!), and topped everything off with a polka dot blouse that I honestly haven’t worn in probably six years (but now I’m kicking myself for those years of neglect!) One thing I especially love for the colder months is statement jewelry. In the spring and summer most jewels are reserved for special occasions because the combination of the heat and the added weight of the jewelry leaves me feeling claustrophobic and uncomfortable, but when it cools down it’s a whole ‘nother story. I recently got this new statement necklace* (my new obsession!)… View Post

When people ask me my favorite season I have such a hard time answering – there is so much to love about each season! But when people ask for my favorite season for fashion that’s easy. I live for fall fashion. Being able to wear cozy layers, deep colors, and fab boots is my absolute favorite and even though just a few days ago it was in the nineties – it’s already fall in my mind. So even though I can’t exactly wear any of my fall clothes yet, I have been mentally preparing outfits in my head for weeks. With this September heat, I really can’t take outfit pictures, so I thought it would be fun to start talking about fall footwear until the weather decides to catch up to me. So, as was probably expected, the majority of shoes featured in this post will be boots – as they are pretty much the crux of fall fashion (for me, anyways!) But I’m a firm believer in the idea that a girl can never have too many pairs of boots so I am just going to share my favorites with you! The Riding Boot. The first pair of boots that I… View Post

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Filene’s Basement. All opinions are 100% mine. Shopping online is kind of my jam – I love how it’s easy to find what I want in minutes with just a few clicks rather than having to go to three different stores over the span of an hour to find something that is sort of what I was looking for. But my other jam is discount stores – I’m all about saving money and shopping sales – something that is harder to do online. In store it seems like I can always find my size on the sale racks – but online it’s a whole other story! And that is why I am so happy that these two passions of mine are about to collide – Filene’s Basement is opening up an online storefront this fall and I’m already budgeting for the shopping spree that I know I’ll be going on during their grand opening. Basically Filene’s Basement is going to be a curate online market place customized to personal taste. The site is going to boast discounted branded apparel, accessories, and home goods (aka some of my favorite things!)… View Post

The countdown is on for back to school (nine days for me!) and that has meant back to school shopping, and a lot of it! When it comes to going to class my first priority is comfort but of course I also want to look cute. That’s where Hanes has come in. I have always loved them for their comfort, but as I’ve developed my own personal style I’ve realized that I can easily take my favorite classics and make them work for everyday wear. Mixing Hanes into my everyday wardrobe has resulted in a look that super effortless and of course beyond comfortable. I put together two outfits that really show my back to school style – combining style and comfort! Coffee + Class. So I am all for wearing leggings as pants because really, why the heck not? And to be completely honest – I think that they can be really cute, too! These are the Hanes Cotton Leggings and they are super comfortable – and I love the capri length! I paired that with the Live.Love.ColorTM Scoop Neck T-Shirt in vibrant orchid. Before accessorizing the outfit is cute – but a bit plain. This time of year the classrooms have the air blasting and… View Post

One of my favorite things about the back-to-school season is finding all of the best deals on new trends for the fall. This year is the first year that I haven’t procrastinated on my shopping, and I was definitely rewarded for it – I was able to find everything on my list at JCPenney and I found a few cute pieces that I didn’t even know I wanted! When it comes to navigating the mall, I’m still desperately clinging onto my youth and shopping in the juniors department (and let’s be honest, I don’t see an end to that in the foreseeable future.) I was beyond impressed by JCPenney’s selection, and I’m so excited about the pieces I picked up and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite looks and trends! Girly & Sporty. My style is always quite girly – but I love mixing it up with pieces from other trends! This bodycon top and skater skirt are instantly made more casual paired with Converse! When you go into your local JCPenney you’ll notice a ton of awesome displays showing off looks that ‘bend the trend,’ or combine two very different trends in a way that… View Post
