First off, let’s address the elephant in the room: At 22 do I really need to be focusing on anti-aging in my skincare routine?
Short answer: Yes.
I could give you all sorts of platitudes about how it’s never too early to prevent wrinkles or that it’s easier to prevent aging than it is to reverse it.
But instead let me say this: While anti-aging products do a fab job preventing avoidable signs of aging, they typically also come with incredible hydration, firming, and plumping benefits. Three things that are essential in my skincare routine, especially in the summer.
Fun fact: Wrinkles form as skin gets drier and thinner with age. That’s why anti-aging products focus on hydration and plumping. If you want that full-skin, dewy look (while also counteracting aging!) anti-aging products are the way to go.
My anti-aging skincare routine
In my skincare routine, I value two things: Time and budget.
I’m not one to spend an hour every night pampering my skin (I wish I had time for that!) so I need a routine I can get through quickly, and one that’s not going to break the budget.
You know I love my Olay Daily Facial Wipes to remove my makeup and give my skin a nice exfoliation treatment. I’ve been using my wipes for a few months now and just recently ran out (the worst!) and in the meantime, I’ve been using a simple oil cleansing method.
I’ll rub oil all over my face (you can use something simple like coconut oil or find a cleansing oil at the drugstore!) and then massage it in using a konjac cleansing sponge.
Bonus points: Oil cleansing is a great step in your beauty routine because it does double duty, hydrating your brows and lashes while cleaning your skin.
When I use my facial wipes I skip this step, but when I oil cleanse I’ll follow up with a gentle face wash to make sure there’s not an oil-makeup cocktail brewing on my skin.
This isn’t a mandatory step, but I’m prone to breakouts on my forehead and chin and like to take extra measures to prevent any pesky pimples popping up.
Confession time: My low-point was ordering a $72 moisturizer that promised me the world online only to stick it in the back of my medicine cabinet. It wasn’t great and definitely wasn’t worth the price point.
Call me jaded, but it’s rare to find me shell that much out for skincare products now, and after finding my #HolyGrail moisturizer I doubt if I ever will again.
Ladies and gents, I’d like you to meet the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream.
This is my new go-to moisturizing cream that I apply to my face and neck morning and night.
The Good Housekeeping Institute tested this $26 miracle product against 10 prestige creams found in department stores that cost up to $440.
Spoiler alert: After clinical and blinded consumer studies, the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream came out on top.
I could sing praises for this moisturizer day in and day out, but I want to highlight a few reasons this has become a must-have in my beauty routine:
It’s lightweight texture. Most facial creams leave me feeling claustrophobic and like I’m trapped in a mask, this Micro-Sculpting Cream sinks into my skin. (80% of consumers reported it feeling rich without being heavy!)
It’s ingredient list. With powerhouse ingredients like niacinamide to boost cell turnover and Carob Seed Extract that aids in skin repair (among a whole slew of beneficial ingredients!) I know exactly what’s going onto my skin and how it’ll benefit.
It’s fast-acting. When I started using this cream I touched my face every 20 minutes for the first week. Within a day the appearance of lines is reduced and hydration and brightness are boosted.
Don’t believe me on its fast acting powers? This quick before and after shows the difference just one application of Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream and 20 minutes makes. It transforms your skin every application in addition to its long-term benefits. Hellllooo plump and glowing skin.
